Overview

Packing tape at Packrift centers on carton sealing tape in acrylic, hot melt, and water-activated kraft, sold by the case for high-volume packing lines, plus heavy-duty duct tape and the dispensers that keep strip length consistent. The collection also holds the specialty tapes that live near a pack station: waterproof patch seal tape, hook and loop strips, and floor marking tape applicators.

Choose the adhesive first, the width second

Tape type Reach for it when Trade-off
Acrylic carton sealing Routine ecommerce parcels and mixed storage conditions. The 2 in x 110 yd clear acrylic at 2.2 mil is the baseline case format. Slower initial tack than hot melt; give the seal a firm rub-down.
Hot melt High-speed lines and heavier cartons where instant grab and holding power matter most. Less tolerant of temperature swings in long storage.
Water-activated kraft Tamper evidence and a permanent paper-to-paper bond on corrugated. Common for recycled-content cartons where plastic film tape releases. Needs a water dispenser and a slower station rhythm.
Duct and patch tape Repairs and non-carton jobs. Waterproof patch seal tape covers leaks and tears; it is not a carton closure tape. Wrong tool for sealing parcels; carriers see it as a resealed box.
Hook and loop Reusable closures and mounting, like the 2 in x 75 ft self-adhesive VELCRO Brand strips. Fastening, not sealing; no tamper evidence.

Dispensers decide your real tape cost

Tape spend is driven less by the roll and more by how consistently strips get applied. A pistol-grip dispenser like the 3M H183 3 in dispenser standardizes strip length across packers, which is usually the cheapest upgrade on a line. To turn boxes per day into rolls per month, work through how much packing tape per box before you size the order.

Freight is part of the price

Tape is dense but it ships as cases, and on a small order the freight can approach the cost of the tape itself. Almost no supplier says that out loud; we plan around it instead. Buy by the case, not by the roll, and put tape on the same order as boxes and void fill so one freight charge covers all of it.
