Best packaging for shipping books and printed material
Books are heavy for their size and ship best in formats that protect corners and prevent bending. A book-fold corrugated mailer is the standard for single-book orders — it scores the corrugated around the spine, fits snugly, and prevents the book from shifting in transit.
Use this kit to route between book mailers, corrugated mailers, and small boxes for multi-book orders.
Single Book
Book-fold mailers wrap around the book and self-lock with a peel-and-seal strip. They protect corners, eliminate void fill, and ship at low DIM weight.
Multi-Book Orders
For 2–5 book orders, switch to a small corrugated box. Pack books flat with spines aligned to prevent torque on individual covers.
Tape & Sealing
Carton sealing tape closes corrugated mailers cleanly. For premium book brands, kraft paper tape gives a more branded, sustainable seal.
Book packaging FAQ
What is the best mailer for shipping a book?
A book-fold corrugated mailer is the standard. It scores the corrugated around the book's thickness, wraps and self-locks, protects corners, and ships at low DIM weight. Use it for single-book orders up to about 2 inches thick.
Should I use a poly bubble mailer or a corrugated mailer for books?
Use a corrugated mailer. Books are rigid and corner-sensitive — the rigid corrugated walls prevent bending and corner damage that bubble mailers can't stop. Bubble mailers are fine for paperbacks under half an inch.
How do I ship multiple books in one order?
Switch to a small corrugated box sized to leave under half an inch of slack. Stack books flat with aligned spines, fill any remaining void, and seal with carton sealing tape. Use the Box Size Calculator to size correctly.
