Tube Caps or Crimped Ends at the Packing Station?

Choose the tube's end construction as part of the packing process. A tube supplied with caps introduces separate closure components to keep with the tube. A crimped-end tube has a different stated end style. A shared length does not make their closing steps or supporting materials interchangeable.

Keep the exact end style on the order

P3018K is a kraft mailing tube listed as 3 x 18 inches with caps, supplied as 24 tubes per case. S1518K is a kraft crimped-end tube listed as 1.5 x 18 inches, supplied as 70 tubes per case. These products differ in diameter as well as end style; they are examples of two constructions, not direct size substitutes.

The S1518K description identifies the crimped-end style and says no tape is needed. The P3018K listing identifies included caps but does not supply a cap-seating measurement, replacement-cap specification or a reopening-cycle claim. Do not add those assumptions to the buying description.

Plan the component handoff

For a hypothetical station that receives tubes before the documents are ready, designate where the matching supplied caps remain during staging. Avoid pooling closures from different tube products into one unmarked container. Similar appearance or a nominal diameter is not evidence that another cap is the correct replacement.

For a crimped-end product, do not create a cap-picking step simply because the previous packing instruction used capped tubes. Use the procedure for the selected end style. The instruction should distinguish the supplied construction from any additional materials the operation independently requires.

Describe how the recipient gains access

Keep the intended opening method with the packing instruction. If repeated access is a requirement, obtain evidence for that use from the exact tube and closure specification. Neither a cap nor the words crimped end establish how many times the finished package can be reopened and closed satisfactorily.

Preserve the finished document roll and its permitted handling method while evaluating the opening. Do not assume that squeezing, cutting or reshaping an end is an approved method for the selected contents.

Retain construction through a reorder

Record the SKU, listed size, end style and order unit together. This prevents a length-only reorder from changing the station's closure components and receiving procedure without anyone noticing.
