Foam Tape Thickness in Mounting Drawings

A foam tape's listed thickness is a material specification. The distance between two mounted parts is an assembly requirement. Record both separately instead of assuming the first number guarantees the second.

This distinction matters when a faceplate must align with a surrounding surface, a display component must sit at a particular offset, or a cover must remain clear of an adjacent part. A tape can match a nominal dimension while the finished assembly still needs evaluation.

Compare the stated foam constructions

T9431162PK is a white double-sided polyethylene foam tape with 1/32-inch foam and pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive. Its listed width is 1/2 inch, and the case contains two 72-yard rolls. The descriptions identify foam thickness. They do not establish an installed compression value, a total assembled thickness including every adhesive layer, or a guaranteed finished gap. Use representative surfaces, component geometry and the intended application process for the trial. Inspect the finished position and any interference with nearby parts. A successful dimensional check does not establish the joint's allowable load, service life or suitability for a different surface.

Approve a measured assembly

Keep the trial result with the drawing before standardizing the purchase.
