Inner Bubble Pouch or Addressed Bubble Mailer?

Decide whether the packaging component stays around one item inside another package or serves as the addressed outer mailer. A bubble pouch and a bubble mailer may both contain cushioning material, but those names do not assign the same role in a complete packing instruction.

Compare the documented forms

BOB1212F is a 12 x 12 inch clear polyethylene bubble pouch described as flush cut and open end, supplied as 200 pouches per case. B856WSS is an 8.5 x 14.5 inch white self-seal bubble mailer supplied as 100 per case. These dimensions are not interchangeable and do not establish that one fits inside the other.

The open-end description matters when assigning the pouch's position. It is not a stated self-seal mailer closure. Conversely, the outer mailer's self-seal wording does not identify how every separately packaged item should sit inside it.

Assign roles before selecting the complete combination
Role What the packing instruction must identify
Item-level pouch The item enclosed, open-end orientation and position in the outer package
Outer mailer The complete contents, closing step and parcel identification
Combined package The actual selected components and their assembled arrangement

Do not leave the outer package implicit

For a hypothetical two-item order, an instruction saying “put each item in a bubble pouch” defines preparation of the two items. It does not identify their shared outer package, its closure or the parcel identity. Add those decisions explicitly rather than treating completion of the two pouch steps as completion of the shipment.

If the plan instead uses one outer bubble mailer, document what happens to each item inside it. Built-in cushioning in the mailer does not automatically create two separate item compartments or prevent the items from contacting one another.

Keep the opening orientation deliberate

An open-ended pouch leaves an access opening. Record which way that opening faces in the complete arrangement and what keeps the intended item positioned during the process. Do not describe the item as enclosed on every face merely because it has been inserted into a pouch.

The actual contents and remaining packaging determine the acceptable arrangement. The listed format alone does not establish retention, shipping protection or suitability as an independently addressed parcel.

Record the complete packing structure

Keep item preparation and outer-package preparation as separate named steps. The purchasing record can then identify each required component accurately, without a shorthand “bubble packaging” line obscuring whether the order needs pouches, outer mailers or both.
