Inspection-Message Tape or Security Tape?
Tape printed Inspected and tape carrying a broken-seal message answer different questions. One communicates a statement about a process. The other is selected for the seal-observation feature described for that product.
Start with what the receiver needs to know. Whether an inspection was completed, whether the carton was accepted and what the seal looks like on arrival are separate questions.
Compare the exact tape descriptions
T902P14 Inspected carton-sealing tape is listed as red and white, 2 inches wide, 110 yards per roll, 2.2 mil, with acrylic adhesive and 36 rolls per case. Its printed Inspected message communicates the chosen statement on the carton.
T902ST02 security tape is listed at 2 inches × 110 yards, 2.5 mil, and 36 rolls per case. Its description identifies permanent “IF SEAL HAS BEEN BROKEN” messaging and describes an alignment feature intended to indicate opening.
| Question | Information to consult | What is insufficient by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Was the required inspection completed? | The applicable inspection record | A printed word without its supporting record |
| What is the observed seal condition? | The applied seal and the approved observation method | An Inspected message alone |
| Are the contents accepted? | The authorized acceptance decision | Either tape message alone |
Neither description establishes who packed a particular carton or what is inside it. Keep the physical observation and the process records connected without treating them as the same evidence.
Evaluate the seal feature on the actual carton
Use the selected tape and carton surface in a trial following the applicable instructions. Inspect the applied message and the opening result so the receiving team knows what the approved observation should look for.
The described feature does not remove the need to evaluate application and receiving conditions. Avoid assuming that any tape with security wording behaves like every other security-tape product.
Record the observation precisely
In a hypothetical receipt, the carton carries Inspected tape, but the receiver sees that a seam has been opened. The printed statement does not resolve when the opening occurred or whether it was authorized. Record what is observed and follow the team's exception process.
Likewise, a seal that appears unchanged does not independently establish an inspection result or approval of the contents. Use the relevant record for those decisions.
Order the feature the workflow needs
Specify the exact SKU and message after the trial. The matching width, roll length and case quantity above do not make the products interchangeable, and their mil difference does not establish a performance ranking.
Use the security tape guide for related formats. Choose process-message tape and seal-observation features according to the question each must help answer.
