A nestable tote can support an empty-return process only when the operation actually releases empty totes for that process. Before buying it, identify where contents are removed, who releases the empty container, and where the returning containers will wait.
MT251912 is a 25 x 19 x 12-inch ECT-44 kraft corrugated tote with reinforced hand holes, supplied in bundles of 25. Its description explicitly identifies a nestable design for storage when empty. The ECT-44 designation describes the corrugated board rating; it does not set a loaded carrying limit or an allowable height for a nested group.
Separate the loaded trip from the empty return
Draw two stages in the handling plan. The loaded stage moves the intended contents between work areas. The empty stage begins after those contents and any materials that must travel with them have left the tote. A container waiting for a final part or paperwork is still in the first stage, even if it appears almost empty.
For example, a hypothetical assembly area receives kits in totes and removes the last components at its final workstation. If empty totes are collected at the receiving end of that area, workers need a defined route to return them there. The tote's nestable construction does not create that route or assign someone to make the return.
Choose an empty-container handoff
Specify where a tote becomes eligible for return. An operator can place released empties in a designated area while containers still assigned to work remain elsewhere. Use a clear location or status record so the next person does not remove a tote that still belongs to an unfinished job.
Before returning it, remove loose materials that are no longer meant to remain inside and resolve obsolete job paperwork according to the operation's normal process. Plan return space from the actual arrangement
Evaluate the intended nested arrangement in the space assigned to it. Record the space occupied and the method used to separate and retrieve totes. Do not calculate a nesting ratio by dividing one of the listed dimensions, or assume that a bundle of 25 occupies the same space after assembly and use.
Establish the condition in which a returned tote can be used again before it is sent back to the kit-building point. The product description does not provide an unlimited reuse life. Keep any containers awaiting a condition decision out of the ready-to-use group.
