SELECTION EXPERT ADVICE
Overview
Compare machine stretch wrap separately from hand film. Your wrapper’s accepted roll format and the tested load-containment process come first. The selected machine-film examples below are separate from the hand-wrap collection.
| SKU | Listed width × length | Gauge designation | Listed film format | Order-unit evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MSF2080C | 20 in × 5,000 ft | 80 gauge | High-performance cast machine film | One unit; confirm roll count |
| PREMIER2080 | 20 in × 5,000 ft | 80 gauge EQ | Cast in title; description conflicts with blown | Confirm manufacturing format and supplied rolls |
MSF2080C has a consistent cast-film designation in the current record. PREMIER2080 is labeled cast in its title while the body says blown. Treat it as a candidate requiring reconciliation; do not approve a cast-versus-blown substitution from this record.
For hand wrapping, two current 18-inch × 1,500-foot 80-gauge examples are SF188 and SF188CAST. Both list four per case; SF188CAST explicitly identifies cast hand film. These are different roll lengths and use cases from the 5,000-foot machine rolls.
For conventional film gauge, 100 gauge = 1 mil = 0.001 inch; 80 gauge is nominally 0.8 mil. An EQ or performance-equivalent designation does not establish that physical thickness. Keep the supplier’s stated designation and confirm actual film thickness if the process requires it.
Stretch wrap is applied under stretch during wrapping; shrink film uses a heat-shrinking process. Do not substitute one based on a shared width or a gauge number. Match your equipment and the approved packing method, then compare roll consumption on representative loads.
For replenishment, record pallets per week, measured film used per pallet, roll footage, rolls per order unit and a measured waste allowance. Do not claim a universal pallets-per-roll yield. Send the wrapper model, film requirement, SKU, quantity, ZIP and delivery date with a machine-film quote.
Questions before ordering
Can I use hand film on a wrapping machine?
Check the machine’s roll, core and operating requirements. A hand-roll label does not establish machine compatibility.
Is 80 gauge EQ the same thickness as 80 gauge?
The EQ designation is not a measured-thickness statement. Confirm the required physical thickness and performance with the supplier.
How do shrink wrap and stretch wrap differ?
They use different application processes. A heat-shrink material is not a replacement for stretch film in an approved pallet-wrapping method.
