Unused Corrugated Carton Storage Before Packing
Include storage and handling in the purchase plan for unused corrugated cartons. A delivery can contain the correct SKU and still arrive at the packing bench with warped panels or damaged edges. Buying the specified board grade does not remove the need to preserve the stock before use.
Protect the flat stock before assembly
The PMMI and Fibre Box Association storage report recommends storing knocked-down corrugated packaging flat, indoors, away from moisture and off the floor. It calls for clean, flat support and keeping the bundle's unitizing material in place until use. It also explains that humidity and temperature extremes can affect dimensions, brittleness, warping and machine operation.
The report recommends first-in, first-out use. Its guidance concerns preserving unused packaging; it does not establish a universal expiry date or prove that a damaged carton becomes acceptable after it dries.
Give incoming bundles a defined destination
Before a delivery, name the storage position and who will receive the stock. Check the route from receipt to that position: temporary staging beside an open loading door can become the actual storage location if no one owns the next move.

Connect storage capacity to the actual order
SKU 995 is listed as a 9 × 9 × 5 inch ECT-32 kraft corrugated box, supplied in bundles of 25. Those are product specifications, not the dimensions of the delivered flat bundle. Obtain the delivered unit dimensions when planning its storage position.
Write the storage location beside the purchase quantity. If the intended position cannot accept the delivery, resolve the staging arrangement before ordering additional stock. Do not use the assembled box size to calculate the flat bundle's shelf footprint.
Keep exceptions separate from ordinary replenishment
When a bundle shows a storage or handling problem, record what was observed and obtain a disposition from the person responsible for the packaging. Preserve a photograph and receipt reference when asking the supplier to review it. Continue ordering by the exact specification in the corrugated-box purchasing guide, while keeping stock condition as a separate release decision.
