Bag Taper and Trimmer or Carton Tape Dispenser?

A bag taper is selected around a gathered bag neck; a carton-taping process applies a strip across a carton closure. Identify that application path before buying something described simply as a tape dispenser.

The objects enter the operation differently. A bag presents flexible material that must be gathered at its opening. A carton presents panels and a seam. Sharing adhesive tape as a consumable does not make the two equipment arrangements interchangeable.

What the bag taper supplies

TDPRODHD is an all-steel, heavy-duty bag taper with an integrated trimming blade and pre-drilled mounting holes. Its description lists a 3/8-inch-wide throat. It is sold as one unit.

The throat figure identifies a feature of the tool. It does not, by itself, provide a complete refill specification, a maximum loaded-bag capacity or a permitted material thickness. Obtain the tool's tape requirements and operating instructions before selecting a consumable or establishing the station procedure.

What the carton tape supplies

T901131 is a roll product: clear acrylic carton-sealing tape, 2 inches × 55 yards, listed at 3.1 mil and 36 rolls per case. Its description concerns carton sealing. It is not the bag taper itself, and this comparison does not identify it as a compatible refill for TDPRODHD.

For a carton station, match an appropriate dispensing tool to the exact tape and the closure operation. Keep the tape width, core and outside-diameter requirements separate from the dimensions of the equipment. A general dispenser name does not resolve these relationships.

Account for the gathered end and trimming step

In a hypothetical small-parts operation, the packed bag must retain enough material above the contents for the chosen closure procedure. The station plan should identify where the operator gathers the opening, where the closed neck leaves the tool and what happens to any trimmed material.

Follow the equipment instructions for the trimming feature. Do not treat excess bag material as irrelevant merely because a blade is present: the completed closure and the recipient's intended opening process still need to be defined. This is a workflow choice, not a dimensional guarantee based on the throat width.

Give the tool a defined workstation position

The pre-drilled holes establish that the taper has a mounting feature; they do not specify the bench fasteners or mounting pattern. Resolve those details before installation and place the operation within the station's normal material flow.

Keep the equipment identifier, approved consumable and operating procedure together in the station record. Choose the bag taper when the task is the gathered-neck process it supports; choose the carton-taping arrangement when the task is applying tape over a carton closure.
