SELECTION EXPERT ADVICE
Overview
Kraft paper rolls for wrapping, interleaving, and void fill
Choose kraft packing paper by the job you need it to do, then compare roll width, roll length, and the stated basis weight. Whether you are wrapping an item, placing paper between surfaces, or filling space in a carton, these specifications help you choose a roll that fits your packing setup.
Keep the dimensions and paper grade attached to the exact SKU. A roll's width describes the sheet across the roll; its length describes the paper available along it. The pound figure used for basis weight describes the paper grade, not the physical weight of the roll you will lift.
Compare selected kraft paper rolls
| Product and SKU | Roll width | Roll length | Basis weight | Ordering detail |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kraft paper roll — KP1830 | 18 in. | 1,200 ft | 30 lb | One roll per unit |
| Kraft paper roll — KP1540 | 15 in. | 900 ft | 40 lb | Confirm the sold-as quantity on the product page |
These are different widths as well as different paper grades. Compare both measurements before choosing a replacement for a roll already used at your packing station. A wider roll may change the way you cut or fold the sheet, while a different length changes how much paper is on the roll.
Separate basis weight from roll weight
The 30 lb and 40 lb figures above are stated basis weights. They should stay in a paper-grade field when you build a comparison or purchase list. Neither figure establishes the weight of a packaged roll, its core, or an order containing several rolls.
For a wider comparison, use the kraft paper roll size and weight chart. Check the selected product again for its stated dimensions and ordering details. Paper grade alone does not establish an exact thickness, the amount needed to pack an item, or the performance of the completed package.
Match the paper to your packing task
| Task | Details to establish |
|---|---|
| Wrapping an item | Measure the packed item and allow for the overlap and folds your method requires. |
| Interleaving surfaces | Choose a sheet width and cut length that cover the contact area you want to separate. |
| Filling carton space | Check the gaps around the packed item and observe paper consumption in your own process. |
| Using a roll holder or cutter | Check the equipment's width, core, and roll-size requirements against the selected product. |
Try the paper with the complete item and carton before standardizing a packing method. Record the SKU and approximate cut length used for a representative package. Repeat that check for products with substantially different shapes or wrapping needs instead of applying one allowance to every order.
Keep paper formats clear when comparing
Kraft rolls, pre-cut sheets, newsprint, butcher paper, freezer paper, and coated paper can appear in related searches. Their product names do not establish the same construction or suitability. Read the selected listing for the actual paper type and any coating or special-purpose specification your application requires.
For general packaging choices, compare the role of paper with other materials in the void-fill comparison guide. Browse packing peanuts and loose fill when considering a loose-fill format, or bubble wrap when considering a wrapping format with bubble cushioning.
How do I estimate how long a roll will last?
Measure the length used in a representative pack and compare it with the listed roll length. Allow for the different cuts, folds, and item sizes in your workflow. That estimate is a planning aid; confirm it against observed use at the packing station.
What should a repeat order include?
Include the SKU, width, length, stated basis weight, and required order quantity. If you need a particular dispenser fit, coating, or paper type, include that requirement too. Confirm the sold-as quantity for each selected product rather than assuming every listing uses the same increment.

A 48-inch kraft wrapping and void-fill roll
KP4830 is a 48-inch-wide, 1,200-foot kraft paper roll with a stated 30-lb basis weight, sold one roll per order unit. This is a wrapping and void-fill paper format; 48-inch anti-slip pallet paper is a separate grade and application.
| SKU | Width | Length per roll | Basis weight | Sold as |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| KP4830 | 48 in / 4 ft | 1,200 ft | 30 lb | 1 roll |
The nominal flat area is 4 ft × 1,200 ft = 4,800 square feet per roll. For a cut pattern that uses the full width and 24 inches along the roll, 1,200 ft ÷ 2 ft gives 600 nominal sheets measuring 48 × 24 inches. For 1,000 such cuts, two rolls contain 1,200 nominal cuts before trimming, damaged paper or waste.
If the packing pattern uses a narrower strip, include slitting and handling in the plan rather than assuming every square foot becomes a usable piece. Confirm the holder’s width, core and outside-diameter limits for this wider roll. The 30-lb basis weight identifies the paper grade; it is not the roll’s lifting weight or a cushioning rating.
Compare other widths in the kraft roll size and weight chart, and include the exact width, grade, physical roll count and delivery ZIP in a quote.
