Frequently asked
Is ECT or Mullen the modern standard?
ECT. Most modern corrugated specs reference Edge Crush Test because it better predicts real-world stacking performance.
Why did the industry shift from Mullen to ECT?
Mullen measures burst resistance (puncture) which isn't what actually fails in shipping — stacking compression is the typical failure mode. ECT directly measures stacking strength.
Do carriers accept either rating?
Yes — carriers accept both. However, many specifications (like FBA, retail distribution) now require ECT, not Mullen.
