Common questions
What is the ECT rating and why does it matter for my shipping operation?
ECT-32 (Edge Crush Test) means this single-wall corrugated can withstand 32 pounds of edge pressure before crushing. This rating is ideal for mid-weight items and moderate stacking scenarios. For heavier products or extreme stacking conditions, consider ECT-48 alternatives. ECT rating directly impacts box durability and damage claims, lower ratings risk product loss; higher ratings increase costs.
How does this 4x4x40 box reduce my shipping costs compared to larger alternatives?
Narrow dimensions (4" x 4" base) minimize dimensional weight surcharges on parcel carriers like UPS and FedEx, especially for lightweight tall items. You reduce wasted space by 40-60% versus standard rectangular cartons, lowering per-unit freight costs. Flat-pack bundling also cuts inbound shipping and warehouse storage overhead.
Can I use these boxes instead of mailing tubes for poles and rolled items?
Yes. These tall corrugated boxes offer protection compared to mailing tubes while remaining cost-competitive. End-loading design accommodates straight items easily, and kraft construction is more rigid than tubes. You also gain printable surfaces for branding and shipping labels without additional label stock.
How many boxes fit on a pallet, and what is the stacking limit?
25 flat-packed boxes bundle compactly; approximately 40-50 bundles (1,000-1,250 boxes) fit on a standard 48" x 40" pallet depending on stacking height. When assembled, ECT-32 single-wall allows safe stacking up to 4-5 boxes high under normal warehouse conditions. Always test with your specific product weight to confirm safe stacking performance.
