Common questions
Will this tape work with my automatic dispenser on the packing line?
Yes. The 1/4" width and consistent 5.2 mil thickness are compatible with most standard tape dispensers. Refer to the included data sheet to verify your specific dispenser model, or contact our support team with your equipment details for confirmation.
How does the adhesive perform on wet or dusty cardboard?
The pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive bonds reliably even on slightly damp surfaces common in warehouse environments. For maximum adhesion, ensure surfaces are free of excess dust and oil. The moisture-resistant vinyl backing won't degrade from humidity or wet conditions.
Can I use this for chemical-resistant sealing in manufacturing areas?
Absolutely. The 3M 471 vinyl backing resists acids, alkaline chemicals, and solvents, making it ideal for industrial packaging in chemical facilities, food processing, and automotive sectors. Test on your specific environment if extreme chemical exposure is expected.
What's the shelf life, and how should I store these rolls?
When stored in cool, dry conditions (60 - 80°F, <50% humidity), rolls maintain adhesive performance for 2+ years. Keep rolls in original packaging, away from direct heat and sunlight, to preserve the rubber adhesive and vinyl integrity for consistent on-line performance.
