Common questions
Will this tape work with standard tape dispensers on my packing line?
Yes. The 3M 471 is engineered for compatibility with most 2-inch tape dispensers using standard 3-inch cores. The rubber adhesive feeds smoothly without bunching, stalling, or adhesive transfer issues.
How does this tape perform with wet or contaminated cardboard?
The rubber-based adhesive creates instant contact adhesion even on slightly damp surfaces. However, for best results, wipe excess moisture from corrugated seams before application to ensure permanent bond strength.
Is the red color permanent or will it fade during storage and shipment?
The bright red color is permanently locked into the vinyl backing. It resists fading from UV exposure, moisture, and chemical contact, maintaining consistent visibility throughout the product's service life.
What surfaces does this tape adhere to reliably?
The 5.2 mil vinyl tape bonds securely to cardboard, corrugated fiberboard, kraft paper, plastic films, and painted metals. It resists adhesion failure from abrasion, moisture, oils, and mild acids or alkaline exposure common in distribution environments.
