Steel Strapping

Steel strapping is the right choice for loads over 2000 lbs, for sharp-edged products that would cut through poly, for loads that need zero elongation to maintain load rigidity, and for high-value shipments where strap failure would result in catastrophic product loss. For loads under 2000 lbs where some elongation is acceptable, polyester strapping often provides equivalent security at lower cost.

Regular duty steel strapping in the standard tensile range handles most general industrial pallet and bundle applications. High-tensile steel, heat-treated to significantly higher break strength in the same width and thickness, provides increased holding force for extremely heavy loads and applications where the strap gauge must stay within specific dimensional limits.

Steel strapping requires separate tensioning and sealing tools unlike poly strapping where combination tools are the norm. Tensioners cinch the strap to the correct holding force, and notch sealers or push-type sealers crimp the seal to lock the tension. Powered steel strapping tools are available for high-volume applications where manual tool fatigue is a productivity concern.
