Reclosable bags
Pinch-track zipper and slide-seal formats. Compare size and mil, then plan whole cases by bags needed.
Use the case planner →Gusseted bags
An expanding side or bottom changes the shape. Keep the listed width, gusset and length separate in your specification.
Compare gusseted bags →Poly tubing
Choose one width and cut the length you need. The roll planner includes cut length, quantity and your waste allowance.
Plan rolls of tubing →Shipping mailers
Self-seal shipping envelopes have different closures and usable space from open-top poly bags. Compare the exact mailer format.
Compare poly mailers →Anti-static bags
Specify the required electrical protection. Color or thickness cannot confirm shielding or compliance.
Review anti-static options →A specification buyers can actually use
-
Measure the packed shape
Record width, length and depth after any padding. Confirm the exact usable opening and closure space; do not rely on a nominal size alone.
-
Choose film and closure
Give the mil thickness, bag format and sealing method. Add any documented material or ESD requirement instead of assuming it from a product name.
-
Compare whole cases
State bags needed and check bags per case. Compare price per bag plus actual shipping for your quantity, delivery ZIP and date.
| Film | Inches | Millimeters | Buying check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mil | 0.001 | 0.0254 | Verify exact material and handling requirements |
| 2 mil | 0.002 | 0.0508 | Check fit, closure and case count |
| 3 mil | 0.003 | 0.0762 | Check the same requirements before increasing thickness |
| 4 mil | 0.004 | 0.1016 | Do not infer load or puncture capacity from mil alone |
Questions before you order
Should I use a flat bag or a reclosable bag?
Choose based on your closure workflow. Flat open-top bags need an appropriate tie, tape or sealing process. Reclosable bags provide a zipper or slider that can be opened again. Verify the exact product format.
How do I calculate the number of cases?
Divide bags needed by bags per case and round up. For 2,500 bags at 1,000 per case, buy 3 cases for 3,000 bags. Case counts vary by SKU.
What information makes a bulk quote useful?
Send SKU or required size, bag format, mil, closure, bags or cases needed, delivery ZIP and required date. Add documentation requirements and recurring usage if relevant.
Need clear, flat poly bags for an open-top packing process? Compare exact size, 2 mil or 4 mil film and bags per case. Flat bags are a different format from the zipper and slide-seal options linked from this page.
| SKU | Listed size | Film | Bags per case | Closure workflow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PB543 | 12 × 48 in | 2 mil; clear polyethylene | 1,000 | Open top; use the appropriate separate closing method |
| PB1047 | 3 × 12 in | 4 mil; clear polyethylene | 1,000 | Open top; verify tie, tape or sealing process |
These examples have different dimensions, so the table does not establish a 2 mil versus 4 mil performance comparison. Thickness is one specification, not a certified load or puncture rating. Measure the packed shape and confirm usable opening and closing allowance.
A bulk order for 2,500 bags of either confirmed 1,000-count format requires three cases: 3,000 bags with 500 remaining. Keep the SKU and format separate for each line on a mixed quote. If you need an expanding shape, use the gusseted-bag table; for repeated opening, use the reclosable-bag planner.

SELECTION EXPERT ADVICE
Compare the stated mil thickness, material and intended use. Confirm fit and closure with the packed item when changing bags; thickness alone does not establish puncture resistance or suitability.
Open-top bags need a separate closure method. Press-to-close and slide-seal bags use different closures. Confirm usable opening, seal position and any writing panel before matching one bag to another.
Food-contact use depends on the exact bag material and supplier documentation. Do not assume a poly bag is suitable for food, pharmaceutical, or direct-product contact unless the SKU states that support clearly.

What to check first
- Width and length
- Mil thickness or gauge
- Closure, gusset, or seal
- Case quantity
Common wrong-order risk: Buying by width only. Confirm length, usable opening, closure, and thickness before committing to a case.
