Machine Grade vs Hand Grade Poly Strapping

Machine-grade poly strapping is wound on oscillated reels that feed smoothly into automatic and semi-automatic strapping machines without tangling. Hand-grade strapping is wound on cores or coils in a pattern that allows manual feeding around a load. Using machine-grade strap in manual applications works but wastes the precision winding that machine equipment requires.
Width and Break Strength Selection

Half-inch poly strapping handles most light to medium load bundling applications up to approximately 200 lb break strength. Five-eighths-inch and three-quarter-inch strapping provide higher break strengths for heavier or higher-value pallet loads. Always select strap width and break strength based on the actual load weight plus a safety factor appropriate to your transit environment.
Seals and Tools for Poly Strapping

Open seals and closed seals are the two most common closure options for poly strapping. Open seals allow the strap to slide freely through the seal before being crimped, which accommodates some strap adjustment after tensioning. Closed seals are crimped around both strap ends simultaneously and provide a cleaner, more secure closure for most standard applications.
