How to choose work gloves
Start with the hazard. OSHA lists grip in dry, wet or oily work, thermal protection, abrasion, the area to cover, size and comfort as selection factors, and warns that a glove made for one job may not protect in another.
Leather
OSHA says leather gloves protect against sparks, moderate heat, blows, chips and rough objects. The driver's gloves here come in pigskin, cowhide and goatskin, 3 pairs to a case. The pigskin listings say the leather does not stiffen when wet, and the lined cowhide pairs have a deerskin lining. The leather palm gloves come 12 pairs to a case with a knit wrist or a safety cuff. Goat leather fingerless gloves and half-finger lifting gloves with a mesh back come 2 pairs to a case.
Coated and dot grip gloves
OSHA says fabric gloves guard against dirt, slivers, chafing and abrasion, and fall short for rough, sharp or heavy materials. A coating makes some fabric gloves stronger and adds slip resistance. The coated gloves here have a blue latex palm on a white knit shell, which matters for anyone with a latex allergy. The dot gloves are a poly and cotton knit with PVC dots on both sides, in black or blue, and two sizes come fingerless.
Knit and jersey gloves
The string knit gloves are a poly and cotton blend, and their listings say they also work as liners under heavier gloves. The jersey gloves are cotton: black, or brown with a fleece lining.
Cut resistant gloves
The cut resistant gloves are knit from Kevlar, Spectra and stainless steel and fit either hand. Kevlar is an aramid fiber, and OSHA lists aramid fiber gloves as cut and abrasion resistant.
Inspection and ESD gloves
Cotton inspection gloves come in 2.5 oz and 3.5 oz per pair, and one 2.5 oz glove has a 14 in cuff. The 40 denier nylon gloves are listed for keeping scratches and fingerprints off parts. The ESD gloves are nylon with static dissipative yarns for electronics assembly, uncoated or with a polyurethane palm.
Buying by the case
Each price is for one case. Driver's gloves come 3 pairs to a case, the fingerless and lifting gloves 2 pairs and the other paired gloves 12 pairs, so compare the price per pair column across rows.

Common questions
What are the toughest work gloves?
It depends on the hazard. For sparks, moderate heat, blows and rough objects, OSHA points to leather. For cuts, it lists aramid fiber gloves, and the cut resistant gloves here combine Kevlar aramid with Spectra and stainless steel.
Which hand gloves are best for workers?
The ones made for the task, since OSHA warns that a glove designed for one function may not protect against another. Leather suits rough handling, coated and dot gloves add grip, and string knit gloves also work as liners.
How much are leather work gloves?
Per pair, the leather palm gloves cost the least here, at 12 pairs to a case. The lined cowhide and large goatskin driver's gloves cost the most. The price per pair column shows every leather glove.
What are ESD gloves used for?
Handling electronics. The ESD gloves here blend static dissipative yarns into nylon to reduce static build-up during assembly and component handling.
What size work gloves do I need?
Measure around the hand from the thumb crease past the base of the little finger. On the EN ISO 21420 chart, about 7 in is small, 8 in medium, 9 in large and 10 in XL. The nylon inspection gloves also come in a women's large.
