Packaging Quantity Calculator
Packaging Quantity Calculator
Estimate how much packaging your operation goes through before you reorder. Choose a tab to size up carton-sealing tape per month, stretch film per pallet, or void fill per box, using your own volumes and pack specs.
Frequently asked questions
How is tape usage per box estimated?
The tool multiplies the box length by the number of strips per box and adds an overlap allowance per strip, giving inches of tape per box. That is multiplied by boxes per day and ship days per month, then divided by the roll length to give rolls per month.
How much stretch film does one pallet take?
Film length is approximated as the load perimeter multiplied by the number of wrap passes needed to cover the load height, plus extra top and bottom wraps. Actual usage varies with film pre-stretch, overlap, and wrap tension.
How do you calculate void fill per box?
Void volume is the box interior volume minus the item volume. Kraft paper feet are estimated by dividing that void volume by the paper width and a crush factor, since crumpled paper fills more space than its flat area suggests.
Are these results exact?
They are planning estimates. Real consumption depends on pack technique, product mix, film and paper grade, and machine settings. Use the numbers to set reorder points, then adjust to your measured usage.
Why plan packaging quantities at all?
Knowing monthly consumption prevents stockouts, supports bulk ordering, and highlights where oversized boxes or excess void fill are driving up material and shipping costs.
