Uline Stretch Wrap Alternatives: Cast, Blown and Case Quantities

Product listings reviewed October 2, 2026 · U.S. packaging buyers

Compare Uline stretch wrap alternatives by the load and the wrapping process. Hand and machine film, cast and blown construction, width, gauge and roll length are separate specifications. Packrift has hand-film options to evaluate before you compare the delivered cost of your next case order.

Begin with your current wrapping specification

Record the Uline model and whether the film is applied by hand or on a machine. Note the width, gauge or micron rating, nominal length, core requirements and any special features. Keep those requirements alongside the pallet’s shape and the wrapping procedure you already use.

Uline’s stretch-wrap guide separates cast, blown and newer thin-film formats. It presents cast film as a quiet, clear option for uniform loads and blown film as an option for irregular loads where puncture resistance matters. Those category descriptions help you choose what to evaluate; they do not certify a Packrift product or replace a load trial.

Compare more than the gauge

Specification What the buyer should record
Application Hand wrap or machine wrap, plus equipment requirements
Construction Cast, blown, pre-stretched or other specified film
Width and length Width in inches and nominal feet per roll
Thickness Gauge or micron value and any stated performance-equivalent claim
Load requirements Pallet shape, edges, containment needs, handling and storage conditions
Purchase quantity Rolls per case and the total rolls required

A shared gauge number does not establish equal film formulation, elongation or load retention. Likewise, a thinner film described as replacing a thicker one needs its own supporting specifications and validation. Keep the approved original when you cannot confirm the candidate meets the load requirement.

Packrift hand-film options to evaluate

The following listings were checked in the catalog on October 2, 2026. Each is a hand stretch-film option; none is being represented as a verified replacement for a particular Uline model. Follow the product links for current price and availability.

Packrift option Width × nominal roll length Film construction and gauge Rolls per case
SF156CAST — cast hand film 15 in × 2,000 ft Cast · 60 gauge 4
SF156 — blown hand film 15 in × 2,000 ft Blown · 60 gauge 4
SF186CAST — cast hand film 18 in × 2,000 ft Cast · 60 gauge 4

The two 15-inch films have the same listed gauge, nominal length and four-roll case count, but different construction. That gives a buyer a specific cast-versus-blown trial to consider. The 18-inch cast film changes coverage width, so compare its handling and wrapping pattern before deciding that it serves the same job.

Compare purchased film and actual use per pallet

Four 2,000-foot rolls contain 8,000 nominal feet before stretching or waste. Comparing the delivered price of that case is useful when the width and required film specification are matched. It does not tell you how many pallets the film will secure.

For an operational comparison, record film consumed per accepted wrapped load using the same pallet and an approved wrapping procedure. Include rejected wraps, damaged rolls and application waste in the evaluation. A lower case price can disappear when the process consumes more film to meet the same containment requirement.

Add shipping and required receiving charges to the actual order, then use our Uline shipping-cost worksheet to compare the totals. For larger or recurring needs, request the required SKU quantities and receiving services together.

Approve the load before approving the switch

Evaluate the candidate through the handling your operation needs: wrapping, movement, storage and outbound shipment. Look for the load condition and containment your existing specification requires. Film gauge or pallet weight alone cannot establish suitability. Record the accepted product and wrapping procedure so replenishment keeps the same approved setup.

The Packrift versus Uline comparison covers the broader purchasing decision when film is part of a mixed packaging order.

Questions before switching

Does 60 gauge mean the same performance from every supplier?

No. Match construction and the complete specification, then validate the film on the actual load and process. Equal thickness does not establish equal containment performance.

Can hand film replace machine film?

Do not assume that it can. Match the intended application, core and equipment requirements, roll format and film specifications before a trial.

Can I compare stretch wrap by cost per foot?

Use cost per nominal foot only when width and the required film specification are comparable. For a purchasing decision, also compare consumption per accepted wrapped load and the full delivered cost.
