Common questions
Will this tape stick to wet or damp cardboard boxes?
Yes. The rubber adhesive achieves immediate contact adhesion and the vinyl backing resists moisture, making it ideal for sealed cases that may encounter humidity during storage or transport. For optimal adhesion on wet surfaces, ensure the box is not dripping wet.
Is this tape compatible with automatic dispensers on our packing line?
Absolutely. The 1/4" width and consistent 5.2 mil thickness work with standard tape dispensers. The non-dripping rubber adhesive prevents feathering or jamming, supporting continuous high-speed production without equipment adjustments.
How long will the orange color remain visible during shipping and storage?
The bright orange color is permanently locked into the vinyl backing and resists fading from UV exposure, moisture, and chemical contact. Your color-coded shipments remain clearly identifiable during handling and transit lifecycle.
What surfaces will this tape adhere to besides cardboard?
3M Vinyl Tape 471 sticks to most surfaces including plastic, metal, glass, and wood. The rubber adhesive works on clean, dry surfaces and resists abrasion and chemical exposure, making it versatile for equipment labeling and facility marking beyond case sealing.
