Common questions
Will this tape stick to wet or damp cardboard?
Yes. The rubber adhesive bonds on contact to most surfaces, including slightly damp cartons. However, wipe excess moisture for optimal adhesion. The vinyl backing resists moisture, so the seal won't degrade over time.
Is this tape compatible with automatic case sealing equipment?
Yes. The 1" width and consistent 5.2 mil thickness feed smoothly through standard tape dispensers and automatic case sealers. Fast, on-contact adhesion prevents jams and reduces downtime.
Can I use this tape for color-coding if I need multiple colors?
This pack includes black tape only. However, 3M 471 vinyl tape is available in multiple colors. Contact our sales team to build a mixed-color case for your specific color-coding workflow.
How long does this tape last in storage?
Unopened rolls stored in cool, dry conditions remain viable for 2+ years. Opened rolls should be used within 6 months for best adhesion performance. The vinyl backing protects the adhesive from drying out during reasonable storage periods.
