Common questions
How quickly does this tape adhere, and does it work with standard tape dispensers?
3M 471 vinyl tape features instant-grab rubber adhesive that bonds on contact, no drying time required. It loads easily into most standard tape dispensers used on industrial packing lines, including handheld and bench-mounted models, ensuring use into your existing workflow without equipment modifications.
Will this tape hold up in cold storage or outdoor shipping environments?
Yes. The 5.2 mil vinyl backing resists moisture, weathering, acids, and alkaline chemicals, making it ideal for cases moving through refrigerated warehouses or exposed to variable temperature during transit. The adhesive maintains bond strength across temperature ranges typical in cold-chain and outdoor logistics.
What surfaces does this yellow tape stick to reliably on a packing line?
The rubber adhesive bonds instantly to most corrugated cardboard, kraft paper, plastic, metal, and coated surfaces common in packaging operations. Test adhesion on your specific substrates; the no-drip, clean-contact formula minimizes surface preparation and works on slightly dusty or damp boxes without loss of holding power.
Is the yellow color permanent, and will it fade during storage or shipping?
The bright yellow color is permanently locked into the vinyl material and resists fading from UV exposure, moisture, and chemical contact. This ensures your color-coded cases maintain visibility throughout the supply chain and across multiple handling cycles without re-labeling or identification loss.
