Common questions
What size bags can I make from this 12" x 2900' roll?
The roll is listed at 12" x 2900'. You cut the tubing to whatever length each item needs and seal both ends, so bag length is up to you; only the layflat width is fixed. Size the width with a little slack so contents slide in without stretching the film.
Is 1.5 mil the right thickness for my use?
A mil is one-thousandth of an inch, so 1.5 mil film is 1.5/1000" thick — 4 mil film, for example, is twice the film thickness of 2 mil. Heavier film of the same material stands up to punctures and rough handling better; lighter film costs less per bag and packs tighter. This listing's material is specified as 1.5 Mil Polyethylene (PE).
Can a nearby size or thickness replace PT1215?
Not as an exact replacement. The closest sizes in this line are 10" Width x 2900' Length and 14" Width x 2900' Length; any size change alters the layflat width. Before switching, match the listed dimensions and 1.5 mil thickness — then reorder by exact SKU PT1215.
What equipment do I need to use this tubing? And can I use it for food?
Cut pieces are closed on both ends — most operations use an impulse or heat sealer, though tape or twist ties also work for temporary closures. Orders ship from Packrift's five US warehouse regions (Central IL, NE PA, S TX, SE GA, and W CA); delivery options and timing are shown at checkout. On food use: the film is 1.5 Mil Polyethylene (PE), a material commonly used in food packaging, and the manufacturer spec sheet for this item lists "Regulatory Compliance: FDA and USDA Food Contact Approved". Food-contact compliance is still certified per product lot, so check the spec sheet or contact us for lot documentation before direct food contact.
