Common questions
What does ECT-32 mean, and is it strong enough for heavy products?
ECT-32 indicates 32 lbs per inch of edge crush test strength, suitable for mid-weight to moderately heavy products. It's ideal for layering pallets of items up to 50 lbs per case. For heavier loads, consider ECT-44 rated sheets. These pads work by dispersing pressure across the pallet layer, not by bearing weight alone.
How many pads do I need per pallet, and what's the freight savings?
Typical usage is 1 - 2 pads per layer depending on product size and pallet configuration. A standard 48" 40" pallet usually needs 2 - 3 sheets per layer. Switching from plastic slip sheets to corrugated pads reduces freight weight by ~40% while cutting material cost by 50 - 60%, making them ideal for high-volume shippers managing thin margins.
Can I use these for storage protection, or just shipping?
Both. These pads excel as intermediate layers in warehouse storage stacks, keeping dust and moisture off products while allowing air circulation. They also protect during transit, preventing strapping marks and forklift damage. Their dual-use capability makes them more valuable than single-purpose packaging.
Do these sheets meet industry standards for food or pharmaceutical shipments?
These kraft corrugated pads are food-contact-safe and meet general packaging standards. However, for regulated industries (pharmaceuticals, certain foods), verify compliance with your specific requirements or request FDA/GMP-grade material. Contact our team for certified alternatives if needed.
