Common questions
Will this tape work with our existing strapping dispenser equipment?
Yes. The 3M 8898 is compatible with standard hand-held dispensers, tabletop dispensers, and most automated strapping equipment. The stiff blue polypropylene backing feeds cleanly without curling or jamming, and the 1" width fits all universal dispenser heads.
How well does the adhesive bond to different surfaces like metal and plastic?
The synthetic rubber adhesive is engineered to bond firmly to metal, painted surfaces, cardboard, plastics, and coated substrates. It requires no surface primers or special preparation and maintains adhesion through temperature variations typical in shipping environments.
What makes this tape resistant to tearing on a fast-paced packing line?
The 4.6 mil tensilized polypropylene backing provides tensile strength that resists breaking even when the tape is nicked, punctured, or stressed during application and handling. This durability reduces line downtime from tape failures and rework.
Is this suitable for case sealing, or just bundling and tabbing?
The 3M 8898 excels at both general bundling, small coil tabbing, and secondary case sealing. Its long-lasting hold and tear resistance make it reliable for multi-stage shipping scenarios where packages experience repeated handling and stacking.
