Common questions
Is this tape compatible with standard filament tape dispensers?
Yes. Scotch® Filament Tape 897 is fully compatible with all standard filament tape dispensers, including Packrift's Scotchpro™ dispenser line. Verify your dispenser's core size (typically 3" or 2") matches this roll's specifications for optimal performance and ease of changeover.
How does the 6.0 mil thickness compare to standard carton sealing tape?
The 6.0 mil thickness with glass yarn reinforcement provides tensile strength compared to standard polypropylene tape, requiring less tape per seal while delivering stronger hold. This reduces your per-carton tape cost and speeds line throughput, critical for high-volume operations.
Will this tape adhere properly to recycled or textured cardboard?
The synthetic rubber adhesive bonds firmly to most corrugated surfaces, including recycled cardboard. For best results on heavily textured or contaminated boxes, test a sample run and ensure carton surfaces are clean and dry to maximize adhesion performance.
What moisture and environmental conditions does this tape withstand?
Scotch® Filament Tape 897 offers excellent moisture, abrasion, and scuff resistance, making it suitable for standard warehouse and transit conditions. For extreme humidity or temperature extremes (below -10°C or above 50°C), consult the technical data sheet or contact our support team for guidance.
