Common questions
Will this tape work with our automated dispenser system?
Yes. The 1" width and 4.4 mil thickness are standard dispenser-compatible dimensions. The smooth crepe backing feeds cleanly without bunching or tearing, making it ideal for high-speed automated and manual applicators. Confirm your dispenser accepts 1" core width for optimal performance.
How does this tape perform on different carton materials and surface finishes?
The conformable crepe formula adheres reliably to kraft, corrugated, and coated cardboard. It seals effectively on uneven surfaces and folded flaps without pre-treating. For glossy or plastic-coated boxes, test a sample roll first to ensure optimal adhesion in your specific application.
What's the difference between 3M 201 and 201+?
The 201+ offers enhanced adhesion and conformability compared to standard 201, providing performance on textured surfaces and irregular carton edges. Both deliver clean removal, but 201+ provides better holding power during transit and storage, reducing tape failure on your finished cases.
Can this tape be used for case sealing in hot environments or with heated conveyors?
The tape withstands temperatures up to 200°F for up to 30 minutes, making it suitable for brief exposure near heat sources. For extended high-temperature applications or heated conveyor lines, verify your operating temperature range stays within limits. If exceeded, consider 3M's high-temperature alternatives.
