Common questions
Will this tape work with automatic tape dispensers on my packing line?
Yes. The 2" width and standard 6.7 mil crepe construction are compatible with most industrial tape dispensers used in production environments. The crepe paper backing feeds smoothly without bunching or tearing, ensuring consistent application on high-speed lines.
How does 3M 401+ prevent paint bleed-through compared to standard masking tape?
The synthetic rubber blend adhesive creates a tight seal on surface contours, while the crepe paper backing's micro-texture conforms to irregularities. This dual mechanism blocks paint seepage at the tape edge, delivering crisp lines on two-tone and multi-color applications without edge feathering.
Can this tape handle heat-cured painting processes?
Absolutely. 3M 401+ withstands temperatures up to 250°F for up to 30 minutes, making it ideal for UV-cure, heat-dry, or solvent-based paint systems. Always test on your specific substrate and cure process to confirm compatibility.
Why does residue-free removal matter for my production workflow?
Residue requires secondary cleaning steps, adding labor costs and rework time. 3M 401+ removes cleanly in one piece, eliminating adhesive cleanup and reducing cycle time between coat applications, critical for meeting high-volume production schedules and maintaining finish quality.
