Common questions
Is 3M™ 256 tape compatible with our existing tape dispensers?
Yes. The 1/2" width and standard core diameter are compatible with all industrial tape guns and hand dispensers. Verify your dispenser accepts 1/2" rolls; most automated packing lines use universal-fit equipment that handles this size without modification.
Will this tape stick to wet or dusty cardboard?
For best adhesion, apply to clean, dry surfaces. While the rubber adhesive provides strong pressure-sensitive bonding to most paper grades, dust or moisture reduces effectiveness. Pre-wipe carton seams if operating in humid environments (above 70% RH).
Can we print batch numbers or barcodes directly on the tape?
Absolutely. The white flatback surface is printable with standard flexographic inks and compatible with ballpoint pens, felt-tip markers, and rubber stamps, enabling real-time labeling without additional label stock or secondary equipment.
How does temperature resistance impact our heated sealing process?
This tape withstands brief exposure up to 200°F for 1 hour, making it suitable for heat-sealed equipment and post-sealing handling. For continuous exposure beyond 1 hour or temperatures exceeding 200°F, consult application specs or contact Packrift technical support for alternative products.
