Common questions
Is this tape compatible with standard tape dispensers on packing lines?
Yes. The 3M 2517's flatback design and consistent core diameter make it ideal for machine dispensers. The kraft paper backing feeds smoothly without jaming, and the tape maintains straight application for clean seal appearance.
How does this tape perform in humid or wet conditions?
The rubber adhesive formulation resists moisture penetration, maintaining adhesive strength even in damp warehouse environments. Kraft backing doesn't deteriorate when exposed to occasional moisture, making it reliable for climate-variable facilities.
What's the difference between flatback and filament tape for case sealing?
Flatback tape like the 2517 offers appearance, cleaner dispenser operation, and better performance on kraft surfaces. Filament tape provides higher tensile strength for heavy loads, but flatback excels for standard carton sealing speed and consistency.
Can this tape handle the temperature near heat-seal equipment?
The 2517 withstands up to 300°F for brief 30-minute exposures, making it suitable for lines with heat-adjacent operations. For prolonged high-temperature exposure, consult the technical data sheet or contact support for alternative formulations.
