Common questions
Will this tape stick to wet or damp cardboard cores on my packing line?
Yes. The rubber adhesive achieves contact adhesion on most surfaces including slightly damp cardboard. However, for best results, avoid heavily saturated surfaces. The vinyl backing resists moisture penetration, protecting the adhesive bond throughout shipping and storage.
How does this tape perform on plastic dispensers and automated case sealers?
The 5.2 mil vinyl backing feeds smoothly through standard tape dispensers without tearing or bunching. The instant-set rubber adhesive requires no heat activation, making it compatible with both manual and automated application equipment. Test with your specific dispenser model for optimal speed settings.
Does the red color fade or bleed onto adjacent packaging during transit?
No. The bright red color is locked permanently into the vinyl material using 3M's proprietary process. The adhesive remains contained to the contact surface and will not transfer to neighboring cartons or pallets, even under humidity or pressure.
What's the minimum temperature for reliable adhesion during case sealing?
This tape achieves reliable adhesion at ambient room temperature (60-85°F). For cold warehouse conditions below 50°F, adhesion may slow slightly, allow 30-60 seconds of pressure contact. The 3M data sheet provides detailed performance curves; download it from the product page for your specific climate conditions.
