Common questions
Is this tape compatible with standard ATG dispensers used on my packing line?
Yes. The 3M™ 987 is reverse-wound on a standard 1" core, making it compatible with all C3100-series and equivalent ATG dispensers. No equipment modifications required for immediate deployment.
How quickly does this adhesive achieve full bond strength after application?
The aggressive 1.7 mil acrylic formulation delivers instant finger-touch adhesion with excellent initial tack. Full shear holding power develops within minutes, allowing immediate case handling and downstream processing without dwell time.
Will this tape hold on foam, film, and foil substrates without pre-treatment?
Yes. The medium-firm acrylic adhesive system bonds reliably to papers, foils, films, and various foam types without surface preparation, reducing line complexity and operator handling steps.
What's the practical yield per roll, and how many rolls typically complete a shift?
Each 36-yard roll yields approximately 48 linear feet at 3/4" width for case sealing. A case of 48 rolls supplies approximately 2,304 linear feet, sufficient for 400-500 cases depending on sealing pattern and application width.
