Common questions
Will this tape adhere reliably to metal trailer surfaces and withstand outdoor weathering?
Yes. The 3M™ 983 formula is engineered for permanent adhesion to metal, fiberglass, and painted surfaces. Its non-corroding composition prevents degradation from UV exposure, moisture, salt spray, and temperature fluctuations, critical for vehicles operating in harsh environments.
Is this tape compatible with standard industrial tape dispensers used on packing lines?
Yes. The 150-foot roll is wound on a standard core diameter compatible with most commercial tape dispensers. Confirm your dispenser's core size (typically 1" or 3") before ordering for straightforward packing line integration.
Does the red/white striping pattern meet DOT marking requirements?
Yes. This tape is DOT certified and meets all NHTSA conspicuity marking standards. The contrasting red/white pattern combined with reflectivity at 90-degree angles exceeds regulatory requirements for vehicle safety markings.
How does 3M™ 983 brightness compare to lower-cost reflective alternatives?
The 3M™ 983 delivers six times greater brightness than conventional reflective markings. This light return translates to faster driver recognition, reduced accident risk, and compliance consistency, justifying the material cost through safety and liability reduction.
