About this item
SKU VHB492901R — 5 yds × 5 yds, 25.0 Mil, Black.
1 in x 5 yd black 3M 4929 VHB tape. Closes outbound cartons and reinforces box seams. Also called packing tape, carton sealing tape, or box tape. This is the black version; clear and gray options are separate listings. Seal shipping boxes, moving cartons, and storage boxes. A shipping-room staple for sealing and bundling.
Common questions
Does this VHB tape work with standard carton sealing dispensers?
Yes. The 3M™ 4929 is designed for core-compatible automated dispensers used in packing operations. The clear polyester liner provides smooth unwinding, and the 1" width matches industry-standard tape applicators. Verify your dispenser accepts 1" width rolls before ordering.
Will this tape hold in cold storage and freezer environments?
Absolutely. The acrylic adhesive maintains full bonding strength from -40°F to 200°F, making it ideal for refrigerated logistics, frozen goods packaging, and temperature-cycling operations where traditional tape adhesives fail.
Can this replace welded or riveted seams on packaging?
Yes. The dual-sided VHB formulation provides permanent bonding strength equivalent to mechanical fasteners in most applications. It eliminates equipment downtime from fastening tools and reduces seal defects, but always test on your specific substrate first.
How long does a 5-yard roll last on a production line?
Usage depends on case dimensions and sealing pattern. A typical 12" x 10" carton using one 1" seal uses approximately 1 yard per case. Order multiples based on your daily case volume and packing line speed to maintain continuous production without changeover delays.
