Common questions
Does this tape work on wet or contaminated surfaces typical in packing environments?
Yes. The 45-mil foam conforms to slightly irregular and textured surfaces, and the acrylic adhesive provides moisture resistance. For optimal adhesion on packing line equipment, clean surfaces of light dust and oils using an isopropyl alcohol wipe. The moisture-resistant formula prevents degradation during humid or cold-storage conditions.
Is this tape compatible with standard tape dispensers on our packing line?
Absolutely. The 1-inch width and kraft paper liner are designed for standard industrial tape dispensers and applicators. The conformable foam feeds smoothly without bunching, ensuring reliable automated case-sealing application at production speeds.
Can this replace liquid adhesives or hot-melt in case sealing?
Yes. 3M™ 4941 VHB™ Tape provides permanent, non-removable bonding comparable to liquid adhesives while eliminating drying time, odor, and application mess. It's ideal for high-speed lines where immediate handling is critical post-sealing.
What substrates does this tape bond to reliably on mixed-material cases?
The dual acrylic adhesive bonds excellent to corrugated cardboard, kraft paper, metal straps, plastic reinforcement, glass, and painted surfaces. It handles mixed-material case construction, common in industrial packaging, without requiring separate adhesive products.
