Common questions
Will this tape work in my automated case sealing dispenser?
Yes. The 62-mil thickness and standard core are compatible with most industrial tape dispensers. The conformable foam backing ensures consistent adhesion even on slightly uneven box surfaces, reducing dispenser jams and rework.
How does VHB tape perform on plastic or coated box surfaces?
3M 4979F excels on coated and plastic substrates. Its acrylic adhesive chemistry and conformable foam design bond permanently to low-surface-energy materials where traditional tape fails, making it ideal for modern corrugated and plastic case materials.
Is this tape suitable for outdoor storage or temperature cycling?
Absolutely. The -40°F to 200°F operating range and UV/moisture/solvent resistance make it use for cases exposed to temperature swings, humidity, and sunlight during shipping and outdoor storage without adhesion failure.
What makes VHB different from standard case-sealing tape?
VHB (Very High Bond) uses a proprietary acrylic foam technology that creates permanent, non-removable bonds with instant grab and high shear strength. Unlike water-activated or hot-melt tapes, VHB requires no activation and delivers consistent performance across irregular surfaces, reducing line downtime and customer returns.
