SELECTION EXPERT ADVICE
Overview
Compare bubble wrap rolls by cell size, web width, nominal length and the supplied number of rolls. Small- and large-cell formats are different cushioning specifications; a longer roll does not establish equivalent protection. The selected formats below keep unresolved specifications visible.
| SKU | Cell / format | Listed width | Nominal length | Rolls supplied |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BWAD316S12P | 3/16 in; adhesive bubble | 12 in | 300 ft per roll | 4-pack |
| BWUP12S12 | 1/2 in; clear polyethylene bubble | 12 in; supplier specification | 125 ft per roll | 4-pack |
| BD1224 | Bubble dispenser format; cell size to confirm | 24 in | 50 ft | 1 each |
The 3/16-inch adhesive example and 1/2-inch clear example are useful starting points for small- and large-bubble requirements, respectively. Keep the adhesive requirement explicit. Test contact with the actual product surface before choosing an adhesive wrap.
BOX Partners explicitly lists BWUP12S12 at 12-inch width, 125-foot length and four rolls per bundle. Its nonperforated format is specified in the supplier table below; those facts come from the exact row rather than a SKU-name inference. The BD1224 listing establishes 24-inch width and 50-foot length, but its cell size needs confirmation.
Measure your approved cut length, number of layers, trimming and material used on representative shipments. Required rolls = round up(required nominal feet ÷ nominal feet per roll), after including your observed waste. Confirm rolls per purchase unit before converting rolls to cases.
Questions before ordering
Should I use small or large bubble?
Match the required cell size and packing method to your item. The dimensions alone do not demonstrate cushioning performance.
Is foam interchangeable with bubble wrap?
Foam and bubble have different formats. Compare the exact thickness, contact requirements and packing method rather than substituting by roll length.
Can I compare all these rolls by area?
Only when width, length and rolls supplied are established for each exact SKU. Missing dimensions and unresolved purchase units need confirmation first.

Comparing a Uline bubble-wrap reorder
A Uline bubble-wrap order can specify a single roll with or without perforations. Keep that distinction when comparing it with a four-roll Packrift purchase. The two Uline models below share their nominal size and material, but their dispensing formats differ.
| Option | Cell and length | Width / perforation | Rolls supplied |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uline S-3223 | 1/2 in; 125 ft per roll | 12 in; nonperforated | 1 roll |
| Uline S-3223P | 1/2 in; 125 ft per roll | 12 in; perforated every 12 in | 1 roll |
| BWUP12S12 | 1/2 in; 125 ft per roll | 12 in; nonperforated | 4 rolls; 500 total linear ft |
For an approved 500-linear-foot requirement, four 125-foot Uline rolls or one four-roll BWUP12S12 unit supply the nominal footage. Uline specifies polyethylene/nylon for these models; BWUP12S12 is listed as polyethylene. Nylon content and equivalent cushioning performance have not been established for the Packrift option. Confirm the required grade and packing method before switching.
The current BOX Partners table explicitly places BWUP12S12 under Non-Perforated Rolls with a 12-inch width, 125-foot length and four rolls per bundle. Those dimensions yield 500 nominal square feet for the bundle. Packrift product fields still contain conflicting width and coverage information; this comparison uses the original supplier’s explicit dimensions. Confirm the required material grade and delivered order before replacing an approved Uline model.
Uline specifications reviewed October 3, 2026: Uline S-3223, Uline S-3223P. Use the current model page when reordering; the comparison establishes listed differences rather than equal performance.
Bubble-roll width, perforation and nominal area
BWUP12S12 is explicitly listed by BOX Partners as a nonperforated roll: 1/2-inch bubble height, 12-inch width, 125 feet per roll and four rolls per bundle. At one-foot width, each roll contains 125 nominal square feet; the four-roll bundle contains 500.
Uline S-3223 shares the listed bubble height, width, roll length and nonperforated format, but is sold one roll at a time and specifies polyethylene/nylon material. BWUP12S12 is listed as polyethylene; its nylon content, barrier grade and equal cushioning performance are unverified. Keep those differences in a supplier change. Uline S-3223P has perforations every 12 inches and is a different dispensing requirement.
Supplier specification reviewed October 3, 2026: BOX Partners Parcel Ready Air Bubble Rolls. Compare total nominal material only after approving the material and packing method; area is not a number of protected shipments.
Bubble bags and self-seal bubble pouches
Choose a bubble pouch when the packing method calls for a formed inner cushioning bag. A pouch surrounds the item before it goes into the outer package; it should not be treated as a finished shipping mailer solely because it has a self-seal closure.
| SKU | Listed pouch size | Format evidence | Pouches/case |
|---|---|---|---|
| BOB1010 | 10 × 10 in | Clear self-seal; cell size to confirm | 250 |
| BOB1218 | 12 × 18 in | Clear self-seal; 3/16-inch bubble stated | 200 |
| BOB78AS | 7 × 8.5 in | Anti-static self-seal; 3/16-inch bubble; 1-inch tear-off lip stated | 550 |
Do not subtract the stated lip from the nominal BOB78AS dimensions without confirmation of the supplier’s sizing convention. Check usable opening and closure space with a sample. Clear pouches are not labeled static shielding here; an anti-static pouch designation also does not establish discharge shielding. Refer to the anti-static and shielding bag guide when an ESD requirement applies.
Case planning for self-sealing bubble bags
For 1,200 items at one accepted pouch per item, BOB1010 needs five cases: 1,250 pouches and 50 remaining. BOB1218 needs six cases: exactly 1,200 pouches. BOB78AS needs three cases: 1,650 and 450 remaining. These are different sizes and material requirements; compare whole cases only after selecting the accepted pack-out.
For a roll-versus-pouch trial, record the cut length, folds, closure supplies and packing time actually used on the same item. Keep cell size, material and any static-control requirement fixed during the comparison. The roll calculator above measures footage; it does not establish how many formed pouches that footage replaces.
For a Uline bubble-bag comparison, Request a delivered quote with the exact model, usable pouch size, flap convention, cell size, protection requirement, pieces per case and delivery ZIP. A self-seal bubble mailer and a clear inner bubble pouch remain separate buying formats.
