Stop Tape From Peeling Off Cold Boxes

Hot-melt carton tape stiffens below 20°F and peels off cold corrugated. Switch to acrylic carton tape for temperatures down to 0°F, or use water-activated kraft tape — it bonds into the box fibers and stays sealed in freezing conditions.

When to use

• Fixing a recurring damage, cost, or throughput issue.
• Spec'ing corrective materials before peak season.

The problem

Hot-melt carton tape adhesive stiffens below ~20°F and loses tack against cold corrugated. The seal looks fine when applied but lifts at the corners hours later.

The fix

Switch to acrylic carton tape (rated down to 0°F) or water-activated kraft tape for cold conditions. Both hold through freezing temperatures where hot-melt fails.
