Catalog records reviewed October 2, 2026 · U.S. packaging buyers
Compare a Uline foam-roll reorder by the thickness and format your packing process already uses. Packrift’s two candidates below are 24-inch-wide perforated polyethylene air foam rolls, with different thicknesses and lengths. Select a format that meets the required specification, then calculate the whole-roll quantity and delivered total. More feet on a roll do not establish the same packing result.
Start with the required foam format
Record the current Uline model and whether your operation uses a continuous roll, perforated roll or precut sheet. Include the part, its wrapping pattern and any layers or additional packaging required by your process. A candidate needs to work in that complete method before it becomes an approved reorder.
The existing air foam rolls packaging guide covers the general format. This page focuses on comparing a current Uline purchase with two specific catalog candidates and quoting the amount your next order needs.
Uline’s S-2961P perforated foam roll lists 1/8-inch thickness, 12-inch width and 350-foot length. FWUPS18S24P below has the same listed thickness and length but twice the width. Compare the required wrapping pattern and supplied amount; neither the shared dimensions nor the wider web establishes performance equivalence.
Keep these details on the replacement checklist
| Requirement | Record from the current product | What to confirm on the candidate |
|---|---|---|
| Material and thickness | Required foam material and nominal thickness | Match the specification; a thinner layer is not automatically an equivalent. |
| Width | Web width needed around or between the items | Check the full wrapping or cutting pattern. |
| Length | Nominal feet supplied per roll | Calculate purchased footage after selecting the required thickness. |
| Perforation | Whether it is required and its spacing | Check that the resulting pieces suit the packing method. |
| Purchase quantity | Rolls per order unit and total rolls | Confirm the supplied amount before comparing delivered totals. |
Do not use a roll’s length to decide how many shipments it can protect. Consumption depends on the approved piece size, layers, trimming and rejected material in your own process. Measure usage on representative parts, and retain the required wrapping method in both supplier comparisons.
Two Packrift perforated-roll candidates
The saved catalog descriptions identify both as polyethylene foam with cross-perforation every 12 inches. Their thickness and nominal footage differ. Product links provide current order details, price and availability.
| Packrift candidate | Listed thickness × width | Nominal length | Listed perforation |
|---|---|---|---|
| FWUPS18S24P — perforated air foam roll | 1/8 in × 24 in | 350 ft | Every 12 in |
| FWUPS116S24P — perforated air foam roll | 1/16 in × 24 in | 900 ft | Every 12 in |
The 900-foot format has half the listed thickness of the 350-foot format. It should not be presented as the same foam with extra length. If the current specification requires 1/8-inch material, preserve that requirement unless a separate evaluation approves a change. This comparison establishes no equal-performance claim between the two candidates or against a Uline model.
Calculate the nominal amount you are buying
For a confirmed full roll, a 24-inch width is 2 feet. The 350-foot format therefore contains 700 nominal square feet of flat material, while the 900-foot roll contains 1,800. These are width-times-length calculations before trimming or waste, not estimates of protected area or shipment capacity.
For a requirement of 1,000 linear feet, a confirmed one-roll order unit would mean three 350-foot rolls, totaling 1,050 feet, or two 900-foot rolls, totaling 1,800 feet. Select the required thickness first. The larger remainder in the second calculation matters to purchasing and storage, but cannot justify a thickness change by itself.
The listed 12-inch perforation interval describes nominal 24-by-12-inch segments. Confirm the actual supplied roll format before planning a cut count, and allow for the pieces your process cannot use. Do not treat nominal footage as a zero-waste promise.
Compare the accepted format with delivery included
Ask each supplier to quote the actual whole-roll order, including shipping and required receiving charges for the same address. Confirm how many rolls are included per order unit. Use the Uline shipping-cost worksheet for delivered totals, and compare cost per nominal foot or square foot only alongside the required thickness and material.
Try the candidate with the normal item, carton and wrapping instructions. Check piece fit and handling through your packing process, then validate the completed package to your operation’s standard. Keep the current approved foam when a candidate cannot meet a documented requirement.
Send your Uline model, required material and thickness, width, perforation interval, total footage or roll count, and delivery address. Include a required cut size when useful. Keep the accepted SKU and order unit in the reorder record. The Uline alternatives hub covers broader supplier choices.
Questions before switching
Is 1/16-inch foam equivalent to 1/8-inch foam?
No equivalence is established here. The thicknesses differ. Preserve the required specification and approve any change through the evaluation your packing process requires.
How much nominal area is on these rolls?
At a listed width of 24 inches, 350 feet gives 700 square feet and 900 feet gives 1,800 square feet. Those totals describe flat material before waste, not a protection rating or number of shipments.
Does the same perforation spacing make the rolls interchangeable?
No. Both list 12-inch perforation spacing, but their thicknesses and roll lengths differ. Match the complete specification and confirm the resulting pieces work in your process.
Packrift is independent of Uline. No model or performance equivalence, carrier fit, guaranteed protection or price saving is claimed. Confirm current specifications, supplied roll count and delivered charges before purchasing.
