Catalog records reviewed October 2, 2026 · U.S. packaging buyers
Compare a Uline kraft paper reorder by the roll your packing process uses: width, basis weight, nominal length and the number of rolls needed. Packrift’s three candidates below include two 15-inch formats and an 18-inch format. Choose the required specification before comparing the delivered order; a lower price per roll can also buy a different amount of paper.
Bring the specification from your current Uline order
Start with the Uline model or product link and your normal purchase quantity. Record whether your team uses the paper as a wrapping web, cut sheets or material fed through equipment. Keep the required paper format and packing instructions with the order. A roll that fits a cutting bench is not automatically compatible with a particular dispenser or machine.
For a dimensions reference, use the existing kraft paper roll size and weight chart. This comparison focuses on choosing a candidate for your current reorder and pricing that order with delivery.
Uline’s S-2209 kraft roll illustrates the distinction: it lists 30-inch width, 900-foot length and 40 lb basis weight, with a physical roll weight of 30 lb. KP1540 below shares the 40 lb designation and 900-foot length but is only 15 inches wide. Those are different formats, not verified equivalents.
Match the roll before comparing prices
| Requirement | Record from the current roll | Replacement check |
|---|---|---|
| Width | Usable web width in inches | Confirm the width your wrapping or cutting process needs. |
| Basis weight | The stated paper basis-weight designation | Keep the required grade; the lb designation is not the weight of the shipped roll. |
| Nominal length | Feet per roll | Compare purchased length after matching width and paper specification. |
| Equipment and format | Roll, sheets or a specified feed format | Confirm core, roll diameter and equipment requirements separately. |
| Purchase quantity | Rolls per order unit and total rolls | Calculate the complete order and any stock left after the run. |
Do not infer cushioning performance, finished-package strength or an environmental certification from a basis-weight number. If your operation requires a particular material specification or documentation, include that requirement in the quote. Preserve the current approved paper when the candidate’s record does not establish the specification you need.
Packrift rolls to evaluate
These catalog formats are candidates for comparison, not verified replacements for specific Uline models. Product links provide current order details, prices and availability.
| Packrift candidate | Listed width | Nominal length per roll | Basis-weight designation |
|---|---|---|---|
| KP1530 — kraft paper roll | 15 in | 1,200 ft | 30 lb |
| KP1540 — kraft paper roll | 15 in | 900 ft | 40 lb |
| KP1830 — kraft paper roll | 18 in | 1,200 ft | 30 lb |
KP1530 and KP1540 have the same listed width but different basis weights and lengths. KP1830 changes the width while retaining the 30 lb designation and 1,200-foot length. None of those similarities establishes the same result in your packing process. Record which change your team is prepared to evaluate before selecting a candidate.
Build a whole-roll order
Once you confirm one roll per order unit, three KP1530 rolls supply 3,600 nominal linear feet; four KP1540 rolls also supply 3,600 feet. That makes the purchased length equal, but the basis weights remain different. Use this arithmetic only after each candidate meets the required paper specification.
For a 3,000-foot requirement, three 1,200-foot rolls supply 3,600 feet, while four 900-foot rolls supply 3,600 feet. Two 1,200-foot rolls or three 900-foot rolls would fall short. Include the resulting whole-roll quantity in the quote rather than comparing a single-roll price.
Add merchandise and delivery charges for the actual order and destination. Compare cost per nominal foot only at the required width and paper specification. Include your normal cutting waste when estimating usage. The Uline shipping-cost worksheet helps organize delivered totals; it does not establish a saving before the two orders are quoted.
Approve the paper in your normal process
Try the candidate with the normal carton, item and packing instructions. Check feeding, cutting, folding and the amount consumed in an accepted pack-out. Keep any required inner materials in the trial. The purpose is to approve a repeatable replacement, not to assume that matching a roll width is enough.
Send your current Uline model, required width and basis weight, roll quantity, equipment requirements and delivery address. Include the next run’s required footage if that is how you plan stock. After approval, retain the accepted SKU and order unit for reorders. See the Uline alternatives hub when paper is part of a broader supplier comparison.
Questions before switching
Does 30 lb mean the roll weighs 30 pounds?
No. Here, 30 lb is the paper’s basis-weight designation. It is not the actual shipped-roll weight or a guaranteed package capacity. Use the product’s shipping details for the order’s weight.
Is a 15-inch 40 lb roll a direct replacement for a 15-inch 30 lb roll?
That has not been established. These candidates differ in basis weight and nominal length. Confirm the paper specification and test it in the process before approving the change.
Can I compare these rolls by cost per foot?
Only after matching the required width and paper specification. Confirm the number of rolls supplied per order unit, use whole-roll quantities, and include shipping for the actual order.
Packrift is independent of Uline. No model equivalence, environmental certification, packing performance or price saving is claimed. Confirm current product and order details before purchasing.
