Replacing a Uline packing-list envelope means keeping the paperwork usable for the person receiving the shipment. Compare the folded document, visible information, loading method and attachment process before choosing a pouch size. The three Packrift candidates below are clear-face, 2 mil poly formats supplied 1,000 per case. Their listed sizes differ, and usable document fit needs its own check.
Bring the document as well as the Uline model
Start with the envelope your team currently orders and the actual paperwork it carries. Include the normal fold, the number of sheets, any routing information that must remain visible and where the pouch goes on the carton. A nominal size alone cannot establish that the assembled document packet fits or reads correctly.
Use the existing packing-list envelope face and document-order guide for that document-layout decision. This comparison helps you select a candidate for the current Uline reorder and turn the required envelope count into a delivered case order.
Uline S-11188 clear front/back envelopes show why the dimension convention matters: the listed outside size is 4.5 × 5.5 inches, while the inside size is 4 × 5 inches. That 2 mil, 1,000-count format is side-loading. PL11 below shares the listed outside dimensions and case count, but those matches do not establish the same usable pocket, loading method or adhesive. Confirm each product’s own dimensions and process.
Preserve the receiving workflow
| Requirement | Record from the current process | Check on a replacement |
|---|---|---|
| Folded document | Width, height, sheet count and thickness | Try the complete packet inside the pouch. |
| Visible face | Information the receiver needs to read | Check the clear window, document order and label placement. |
| Loading and closure | How the paperwork enters and stays in place | Confirm the specific product’s opening and insertion sequence. |
| Attachment | Carton surface and pouch position | Test the application on the packaging surface your team uses. |
| Quantity | Envelopes per shipment and total shipments | Calculate whole cases using the selected format’s actual count. |
If your current Uline pouch has a printed message or a required opening format, keep that feature explicit. A clear-face candidate is not automatically a substitute for a printed envelope. Do not infer a tamper-proof or security specification from the use of poly material or a similar size.
Three clear-face Packrift formats to evaluate
These catalog listings establish the dimensions shown, 2 mil poly material and 1,000-count cases. Listed dimensions are not represented here as guaranteed usable interior dimensions. Open the product link for current ordering details, price and availability.
| Packrift candidate | Listed dimensions | Material and face | Envelopes per case |
|---|---|---|---|
| PL470 — clear-face document envelopes | 3 × 4.5 in | 2 mil poly; clear face | 1,000 |
| PL471 — clear-face document envelopes | 3.5 × 5 in | 2 mil poly; clear face | 1,000 |
| PL11 — clear-face document envelopes | 4.5 × 5.5 in | 2 mil poly; clear face | 1,000 |
PL471’s current description identifies it as back-loading and instructs the buyer to insert the document before attaching the pouch. Do not transfer that loading statement to PL470 or PL11 without checking their own requirements. For any candidate, confirm that the pouch accommodates the actual folded document and thickness without forcing the opening.
Turn the shipment run into a case order
If each of 2,500 shipments uses one envelope, three 1,000-count cases supply 3,000 envelopes, leaving 500 after the run. Two cases would fall short. For 5,000 shipments at one envelope each, five cases supply the exact count. These examples apply to any of the three listed candidates after the correct size and format are approved.
If a shipment uses two envelopes, count those separately: 2,500 shipments then require 5,000 envelopes, or five cases. Keep the envelope count distinct from the number of document sheets. Adding sheets to one pouch may change fit, but it does not necessarily mean another pouch is required.
Compare the delivered total for the actual case quantity and delivery address. Divide by the envelopes purchased to compare cost per envelope, and treat tax consistently. The Uline shipping-cost worksheet helps record merchandise, delivery and required receiving charges together.
Approve one complete document handoff
Load the normal paperwork in the candidate, attach it using the intended process and check that the required information can be read. Have the receiving user review the same document arrangement your packing team prepared. Validate the attachment on the carton surface used for that order rather than relying on a general adhesive description.
Keep the approved current product when the candidate cannot meet a required document, attachment or security specification. Once a replacement is accepted, record its SKU, case count, document fold and loading sequence so later orders repeat the same setup.
Send the Uline model, required pouch format, folded-document dimensions, envelopes per shipment, total quantity and delivery address. Include any printed-face or loading requirement. For broader purchasing choices, use the Uline alternatives hub.
Questions before switching
Does the listed envelope size tell me which document will fit?
Not by itself. Check the actual folded document, sheet count and thickness against the usable opening and interior. Do not treat listed dimensions as a confirmed usable pocket measurement.
Are all three envelopes back-loading?
This comparison confirms that description only for PL471. Check the loading and attachment instructions for PL470 or PL11 separately before assuming the same sequence.
How many cases cover 2,500 shipments?
At one envelope per shipment, three 1,000-count cases provide 3,000 envelopes. At two envelopes per shipment, five cases provide 5,000. Choose the required pouch first, then quote the actual count.
Packrift is independent of Uline. No model equivalence, tamper-proof claim, guaranteed attachment performance or price saving is established. Confirm current product details and delivered charges before purchasing.
