Compare Packaging Prices by Pack Size and Delivered Cost
Compare packaging at the same specification and the quantity you actually need. A lower case price or price per piece can still cost more once you account for pack sizes, extra stock and shipping. Use the steps below when comparing boxes, mailers, bags, tape or labels with Muse or another shopping assistant.

Match the product before comparing price
Record the exact SKU, usable dimensions, material, thickness or board strength, color and closure. For tape, compare width, length and adhesive; for labels, compare size, adhesive and printer compatibility. Keep alternatives separate when they differ on a requirement.
Turn pieces needed into sale units
Sale units to buy = pieces needed ÷ pieces per sale unit, rounded up to the next whole sale unit.
For example, if you need 60 boxes and the product is sold in bundles of 25, buy 3 bundles. That gives you 75 boxes, with 15 left over. If you need 100 boxes, buy 4 bundles. The cart quantity is the number of bundles, not the number of individual boxes.
Packrift SKU 1066 is one example of a 25-pack. Confirm the current price, quantity and availability on the exact product page; do not assume other SKUs have the same pack size.
Calculate unit price and delivered cost separately
- Merchandise cost per piece: sale-unit price ÷ pieces included in that sale unit.
- Order merchandise subtotal: sale units to buy × sale-unit price.
- Delivered order total: merchandise subtotal − applicable discounts + shipping + taxes and other checkout charges.
- Delivered cost per piece purchased: delivered order total ÷ total pieces purchased.
Compare the same currency and delivery destination. If quantities differ, also compare the cash needed today and the extra pieces you would hold in stock. Shopify checkout determines the final payable total.
Why the lowest unit price can lose

Option B has the lower merchandise price per box. Option A has the lower delivered cost in this example. A different destination, quantity or shipping method can change the result.

Pack-size mistakes to avoid
- Paper basis weight is not quantity. 30# and 50# describe paper weight, not the number of rolls.
- Roll length is not roll count. A 175-foot roll is not 175 rolls. Compare price per foot only when width, material and thickness also match.
- Labels per roll are not rolls per case. Check both quantities when comparing offers.
- Partial cases need confirmation. Do not assume a listed case can be split. Follow the product’s order increment or ask for a quote.
